one of the women in the ad said she had a partial hysterectomy just to be sure she could never get pregnant again and experience the horror of being denied an emergency abortion. i can’t really wrap my head around how fucked up that is.

Remote work can't solve the childcare crisis. Treating it as the solution risks forcing parents (especially moms) to be full-time caregivers while also working for pay full-time. And it risks gaslighting parents (especially moms) if they can't manage that impossible task.

Absolutely true. But I also checked his personal website and unless I missed something, it says about advising, current students, etc. So I’m not at all surprised people are asking to Zoom with him. He should just tidy up that thread and make it a paragraph somewhere everyone can read it.

Maine has same-day voter registration and it’s so great to never worry about registration, paperwork, etc. If there’s a problem you just fix it right there.

I’m completely agnostic on this point, since I don’t have to do them. This would be a very reasonable point to include on a department webpage.
