Wow-- gamma waves seem to largely arise from neocortical layers 2-3 in primates as they're processing sensory information and alpha-beta from the lower infragranular layers as they're regulating output. How cool is that??? #neuroscience#brainwww.nature.com/articles/s41...
This study reports a motif of local field potentials that maps onto the anatomical layers of the cortex, is preserved across macaque cortical areas and across primates and may represent a ubiquitous l...
Seems to somewhat make sense if you study miller lab at @ MIT. The oscillations patterns are 🧐 really neat. youtu.be/x1H0xxWrO7Mekmillerlab.mit.edu/earl-miller/
Tues, April 23, 2024 11:10 AM - 12:30 PM - PLENARY 2 'CORTICAL OSCILLATIONS, WAVES AND CONSCIOUSNESS 1' - EARL K. MILLER, KEYNOTE Earl Keith Miller is a cognitive neuroscientist whose research focuses on neural mechanisms of cognitive, or executive, control. Earl K. Miller is the Picower Professor of Neuroscience with the Picower Institute for Learning and Memory and the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is the Chief Scientist and co-founder of SplitSage. Earl Miller received a Bachelor of Arts degree (summa cum laude, with honors) in psychology from Kent State University in 1985, Master of Arts degree in psychology and neuroscience from Princeton University in 1987, and a PhD in psychology and neuroscience from Princeton University in 1990. In 2020, Earl Miller was awarded an honorary doctorate (Doctor of Science, honoris causa) from Kent State University. (Keynote/Plen 2) 2024 The Science of Consciousness 30th Annual April 22-27, 2024 "The Science of Consciousness" Tucson & International biennial conferences Center for Consciousness Studies-UArizona www.consciousness.arizona.edu Since 1994 - The Science of Consciousness (TSC) is an interdisciplinary conference aimed at rigorous and leading edge approaches to all aspects of the study of conscious experience. These include neuroscience, psychology, philosophy, cognitive science, artificial intelligence, molecular biology, medicine, quantum physics, and cosmology, as well as art, technology, and experiential and contemplative approaches. The conference is the largest and longest-running interdisciplinary gathering probing fundamental questions related to conscious experience.
