Big part of the disconnect I feel is the shitposter community vs the forum discussions communities that split off from Twitter. I have had so many good in-depth discussions on Mastodon, but I’ve read a lot of fun threads on here. Different spaces afford different content and communities.

I’ve been on there nearly 2 years now, it’s good. I prefer Misskey forks personally so I rarely interact directly with APub based masto and others, and mastodon.social itself is a shitscape of rather questionable individuals due to the lack of moderation, but apart from that it’s good.

i have found people on fedi (short for the fediverse, which includes but is not limited to mastodon) to be incredibly kind, generous, and supportive. without them i 100% would've been homeless before i could've gotten kitsune tails out i'm sorry y'all had a bad experience, but that isn't universal
