For sure, especially for that era in both of their careers. I can’t think of another early(ish) Spielberg movie that shows a looser, more realistic adult partnership than the one shared by Steven and Diane.

Jerry Goldsmith’s score is also the best in the same, said universe.

My favorite performance in the Spielberg universe.

Just learned today that THE SUBSTANCE (which I haven’t seen) is a few minutes longer than MEGALOPOLIS (which I have, and would gladly see again tomorrow before I sit down for a 141-minute elevated body horror that’s longer than two and a half Val Lewtons).

Sorry, “Summer SOFT.” (Whiffing the title of my absolute favorite of his songs, a song that better conveys the brutal acceleration of passing seasons in one’s life, is bitterly ironic.)

When it comes to Stevie Wonder’s greatest, there really are only right answers so far as I’m concerned. (Some of my “right answers” that fwiw didn’t make the list: “Golden Lady,” “Too Shy To Say,” “My Eyes Don’t Cry,” “Another Star,” and “Summer Star.” The man is pop’s greatest genius!)
