Today's less successful attempt with Shonky V1.01. Positioned on the car roof this time but just a random height above it. On the next attempt I'll try with it 1/4 wave above the roof & see if signal reflection helps. Failing that it's back to ground level and tweak things from there. All good fun.

NOAA 18 today with my new home built X dipole antenna after a minor running repair due to wind induced RUB (Rapid Unplanned Bending). My best results yet and I think there are still plenty of improvements to be made. Onwards and upwards, per ardua ad weathersat.

Since it's #WorldPhotoDay I give you my study of a crossed dipole antenna made from 3mm⌀ aluminium wire and a plastic picnic plate. Today was its first time out in the wild receiving a NOAA weather sat, some tweaking may be required...
