Difficult to get your head round the scale of devastation in Chimney Rock, NC. Vast swathes of it now wiped from the map. #Helene

Before and after photo showing the buildings now swept away. Nothing remains.

I donā€™t care that itā€™s old news, I donā€™t care that his supporters donā€™t care, I donā€™t care that this is just how he talks. A presidential candidate saying that people should go to jail for their opinions about his political allies should be a five-alarm fire in the discourse.

Trump says Americans who criticize the Supreme Court for overturning Roe v. Wade should be imprisoned: ā€œThese people should be put in jail for the way they talk about our judges and justicesā€

My #MacGyver moment of the week. Fixed my glasses with fishing line, superglue, & borrowed baking soda while on vacation in New Hampshire. A narrow part of the titanium frame split in half. Fishing line spliced it together, baking soda was an accelerate for the cyanoacrylate to make things solid.

Metal glasses frame with a white patch on one side next to the lenses.

HARI (1985) Acrylic on Canvas - 32" x 20" Hari Seldon, the benevolent grand architect of the next millennium is seen here against the splendor of Trantor at the height of its power. It is a world completely sheathed in metal: one gigantic city that is the hub and nerve center of the Empire. 1/5

An elderly man bound in a wheelchair sits with eyes cast to the sky. The white satin blanket trimmed in gold and decorated with stars and planets covers his legs. Visibly beneath it, his feet are set awkwardly askew, not firmly on the ground. Beneath a white suit jacket with a raven pinned to the lapel, he wears a black mock turtleneck with diagonal stripes on the collar. He looks stately as his arms are crossed and he props a vibrant red book in his lap. Beyond the platform where he sits, the planet has been transformed into a mechanized, futuristic city as far as the eye can see. Rendered in purples and blues, surface entirely metal. Topped by saucers of various styles, towers extend to a sky rendered upward in a gradient from pink to peach.

If you're in Vancouver for #IETF this week (ie, didn't have your flight cancelled), try and take a break for a walk through Stanley Park. Parts of it feel like you've stepped into a scifi B-movie or a Stargate episode (for good reason), plus you can get some fresh air. It's easy to get to by bus.

Me (white male) in the woods in Vancouver with some large trees and ferns in the background, looking like the set for many Sci-Fi B-movies.
