its all good, the tldr is yes, if you install pihole/adguard home on a machine thats part of a tailscale network (tailnet) you can configure it to be used by other devices

you can point tailnet dns to anything you want regardless of whether exit node is used or not: tailscale.com/kb/1054/dns#... when using an exit node i believe it would use the dns configured on the device running the exit node
