You did not hallucinate a guy in one of the chambers with zip ties. You did not hallucinate another member of the Capitol police being hit with a flagpole bearing a Trump flag. You did not hallucinate Congressman Andy Kim staying behind to help clean up. You did not hallucinate a gallows.
Plus, I work a customer facing job. It's not always professionally safe for me to say what I really mean. But I won't lie about what my opinions are in order to please somebody. If a subject comes up that I'm not allowed to discuss at work, I just say that I'm not allowed to discuss it.
As usual, it's complicated. Is the thing a small talk script? Yes, I will say "Fine" in order to get past the "How are you?" to an actual conversation. I'll also say "Nothing" in response to "What are you thinking about?" if I don't think someone wants to go down a rabbit hole with me.

They definitely aren't wrong and I was definitely happier in high school than people who cared about having the right friends. I'm not sure my high school and college success prepared me for a world where advancement is not automatic upon good performance and can be depend on one person liking you.
