I personally don't buy the gift claim (in no small part because it means trusting Kadyrov). Seems much more likely that he just bought them through intermediaries. I don't rule out that it was a gift, though.

Quite apart from the fact that these shoddy absurdities will almost certainly hinder Russian operations, this is yet another in a long list of actions by Musk that should disqualify him from holding any government contracts or having access to classified information
