I don't think abled people understand that breaking a disabled person's wheelchair is assault. It's equivalent to breaking your legs.
Ayup. I kid you not. When I was lying on the ground in shock after being run over by an SUV while out on my mobility scooter, I was much more upset about losing my scooter than the possibility I had a broken leg. That was how I realized if I a choice I’d rather give up a limb than my mobility aid.
Destroying someone's mobility aid meets the legal definition of assault.
