So how can we combat this? 🤔 🚧To end #Homelessness and inadequate housing we need structural and systematic changes, for example: 🔸regulation of the housing market 🔸increased wages 🔸increased supply of affordable housing 🔸improved and expanded social housing

The experience of #homelessness and inadequate housing has significant effects on the mental and physical health and developmental opportunities of children and adolescents 🚨

Beyond the cost of housing itself, households are faced with increasing energy costs 💡 Since 2020 we have seen a 41% increase in households being affected by #EnergyPoverty

Simultaneously, we have seen increases in both house and #rental prices by 17% and 6% respectively

Poverty is stagnating in the European Union: in 2023, almost 71.9 million people were living below the #poverty line - that's 16% of the population This deprivation means these individuals are unable to meet their fundamental needs

Houses are not only overcrowded but unsanitary and unsuitable - including exposure to leaks, damp foundations, and mould. #HousingExclusion

🏘️ #Overcrowding continues to be a major issue facing many children and minors throughout Europe. The rate of overcrowding among the overall population was 17%.

📈 With a newly updated methodology, we estimate that 1,287,000 people across Europe are experiencing homelessness under ETHOS categories 1, 2, and 3 (People living rough, people in emergency accommodation, and people in homelessness accommodation), encompassing all age groups.
