My *actual* modelmaking career started with Dark Crystal after a travelling exhibition of the models came to Lincoln and I realised I could have a go at actually building this stuff. Visiting an open day at Medway a couple of months later cemented it and *thankfully* I got on to the course! My *actual* modelmaking career started with Dark Crystal after a travelling exhibition of the models came to Lincoln and I realised I could have a go at actually building this stuff. The model of the Skeksis castle was there, around two feet tall, and discovered to be largely made of plasticine by means of my then gf poking her long fingernail into it to see what it was made of. AFAIK that model had an extra brick line beneath a window for the rest of its life. The model of the Skeksis castle was there, around two feet tall, and discovered to be largely made of plasticine by means of my then gf poking her long fingernail into it to see what it was made of. This reminds me, did you do an art foundation course at Lincoln? And on that course, did you create a model throne type thing? I ask because I saw such a thing at an open day once, and this inspired me to start modelmaking.

One of my most treasured books is this World of the Dark Crystal. I need to bring more of this into my next games.

Cover of The World of the Dark Crystal, an art book by Brian Froud of the film by Jim Henson. Depicts a Skeksis holding a sceptre
