+1 extra week of play (ahem)
Good question, No real drive for it other than - =1 week of play - seems to fit the current structure easy enough - 7 (or more) divs is a big system (i.e. a long tail), so moves to 4 divs - legacy of 10ea as it started with only 10 Given almost 80 players, is there a logic to retain the legacy?
Let me know your thoughts. - Retain what we have now? - Consider and describe more detail? - Get it implemented for 2025?
Lightning remains as is, as too the Cup. Champions League would move to top 4~6 in each division (depending on numbers of players in next season) plus allowances for Champions League Winner, Cup Winner and Runners up entry slots (as available).
(Assumption: We still have 23 weeks x 5 games a week in an AFL season - over to you AFLHQ)
Season then plays out as Each player plays opponents only once (19 games to play). Compare to current system (play opponents twice (one each H&A)) to play only 18 games. Four weeks of finals (Lightning as well) means we would play to week 23 of the AFL season.
Div 1 and 2 merge to ne NEW Div 1 Div 3 and 4 merge to be NEW Div 2 Div 5 and 6 merge to be NEW Div 3 Finals go to Final 8 style as per current AFL, and still finish in 4 weeks. Promotion for top 4, relegation for bottom 4.
