The "hire humans" is a weird one. I don't recall successful writing ever hinged on hiring a staff.
I think they're gesturing toward copyediting, which certainly can be an expense. But, uh... yeah, I wouldn't outsource that to a robot.
Michener’s researchers would like a word.
The executive director of NaNoWriMo is a person who openly brags on their website that they have, quote, a "pied-à-terre in the Andes." They also have a seemingly religious prohibition against proofreading any of their own work. So of course they think *every* writer needs to have staff.
Most of the authors I know could use a staff. But usually, like, an accountant, a housekeeper, and a personal assistant. Executive-function-for-hire.
