Yup. A lot of NCN will be getting slippy now with fallen leaves. There's several NCN stretches I won't be doing for a while because the winter weather just makes the surfaces unusable
It's tarmac so that's a plus point. But how hard is it to remove a gate, or even just lock it open? Sums up a key issue with the NCN, which is that for most of it issues like this are out of Sustrans hands and all they can do about it it ask nicely. It needs management which can bite if needs must
The naming is the least of the NCN's issues. Suggesting we call it NAN was a little tongue in cheek, but I do wonder if giving it wider appeal would help. But we need to fix the barriers, and mud baths first.
I've seen some of that messaging, and renaming to a broader appeal is a thought that has been stuck in my head for a while (maybe from Laura Laker). Slightly tongue in cheek this morning, and the naming is the least of the NCNs issues. I agree that some Sustrans messaging is off target
I think others have touched on this before but maybe we should rename the NCN to reflect it's broader appeal. Can I suggest the National Active Network - or NAN
Karl loves Moultons and lusts after them. He even occasionally admits it
Wind up windows are lighter too.
Because someone somewhere decided that drivers couldn't tell when it was raining or flicking a stalk was too muchike hard work and needed to automate it. And like most things that becomes damned expensive. I like simple cars.
