What's hilarious is that those of us in film scholarship/criticism are often *extremely accustomed* to the genre of "late-career weird auteur film." Most of the Big Names have one! Coppola's just being called out because Hollywood film is a blasted landscape rn and there isn't much else to discuss.
It's dangerous to get attached to a ship before the game is out, but I've had a Lucanis/Neve bug since the date reveal and have swiftly grown deeply fond of the idea. What I've seen of them, incl Tevinter Nights, they'd be fun—a cynical mage private detective and a tormented mage killer assassin!
It'd be a bit funny to write an article like "I Don't Even Remember What The Well Of Sorrows Was About" on all this debate re: Veilguard and worldstate as a longtime fan (and writer) who isn't that attached to past choices, but this prolly would be too drama stirring and unconstructive unfortunately
This! THIS!! Writing is the hard part but also the rewarding and fun part. It’s hard because you are doing the work of thinking and processing and integrating. It’s rewarding because doing those things teaches you stuff. You come out on the other side changed from the work you did.
I truly worry that my inability to, like, have things to say when I'm not on Tumblr and thus my lack of posting here makes me look like a bot or a bad faith actor when I like posts or follow people, but I swear it isn't. I'm just shy and awkward and a lurker by nature.
I keep coming back to Eric Adams gutting the budget for public libraries, and NYPL fully responding with “What’s wrong with you?” More of that please. Less decorum, more rage.
