Working in northern ON eons ago, I came across a giant poplar tree felled by beavers on the edge of a marsh. They built a canal system around it so they could work at it bit by bit. I was amazed.

I was around some beavers this past week, and it's really incredible the size of tree they can take down, and how much mud they can move around.
With trees this size or bigger, they usually don't finish. They ALMOST cut them down, and then wait for a windstorm to finish the job. Then they come back and part them out. The heavy trunk usually stays where it fell.
