ChatGPT-maker OpenAI is working on a plan to restructure its core business into a for-profit benefit corporation that will no longer be controlled by its non-profit board, people familiar with the matter told Reuters, in a move that will make the company more attractive to investors.
this is messed up
Innocent question: How is it legal? I thought non-profits could only divest to another non-profit. Non-profits can sell property at FMV but keep the proceeds for the charitable purpose. I’m not a lawyer or expert of any kind, just curious.
Pray he does not altman the deal further… ;)
