Tchr sets independent study from the textbk each lesson, + Dr frost task 15 questions every week or two. Also Exam question homework during/after each chapter which is taken in and marked. Ind study started broad so they could differentiate, but have had to be more prescriptive as some didn’t do it.
Fair enough. Though in terms of predicted grades I think my ‘gradar’ might need adjusting, as we usually get a few A*s and I thought this cohort were comparable. Anyways, that’s for me to mull over. Thanks for your time!
I suppose my question then is, do you feel the papers were easier? Or has standard improved? My feeling, based only on your posts & my prejudice, is that it’s hard to compete for the top grade unless you’re doing FM as well. I.e increased numbers doing FM has pushed up the standard required?
So it was my teaching then? Just kidding. I guess you mean the proportion of A*s was similar, or are you referring to something else?
Thanks Graham, Found this really interesting. With another rise in the grade boundaries it wiped out all our potential A*s from ‘only’ maths.
