as somebody who runs a mailing list which people intentionally opt into, i can say that literally every email i sent loses 0.1-0.9%. that’s completely normal and says nothing whatsoever about the content. any episode is a reminder that “hey maybe i’m done with this.”
That could have easily coincided with a shutdown of many bot accounts. When you've got millions of followers, it's not like you can weed those out. They're reporting a big nothing burger and trying to pass it concerning.
