Ran out of fuel and collapsed into an ultradense core? Are stars distance runners?
An image released by NASA this week shows the remains of a supergiant star, more than 16,000 light-years from Earth, that ran out of fuel and collapsed. Whatâs left is an ultradense core, called a neutron star.
The images, captured by two of NASAâs X-ray telescopes, will allow scientists to learn more about the life spans of stars and what happens after they die.

The only book about AI, as a category, anyone should attempt to write is one that investigates how the label is able used and abused to encompass so many important, mundane, silly, and nonexistent things while not meaning anything in specific.
The reason this platform doesn't work for me is that if one opts out of X because of the pollution of its owner and seeks news/discourse here, you're still faced with people constantly discussing and reposting said person. Block them all and nothing to see here.
Shocking: Evernote exports appear to stall on special characters, meaning the meat of what I used the app for (automatic captures of links I tweeted) is trapped in their platform, or at least their database file format.
Evernote, which I rarely use but have kept on a paid subscription for years as a legacy matter, is increasing its prices by 370% and has earned itself a deletion of my account.
âA rising tide lifts all boatsâ has always bugged me. Itâs not like it improves everyoneâs boats; youâre no better or worse off. Nothing happened. I prefer âA rising tide floods all coasts.â
Having read the White House release on the AI executive order, itâs striking that the WH identifies so many kinds of potential harms but will only REQUIRE action around âfoundation modelâ testing. My Q: Does the president lack power to REQUIRE other remedies, or does it not wish to? Why?
On top of the attribution issues with the hospital blast, it looks like the â500 deadâ claim never existed? And a lot of the attribution analysis was based on whether observed damage was consistent with that claim. What a mess.
Did the Entire Media Industry Misquote a Hamas Spokesperson? www.silentlunch.net/p/did-the-en...
I asked a dozen reporters and news outlets for the source of a statement they attributed to Hamas. None of them answered. This is a case study of the failure of journalistic standards.
