The only book about AI, as a category, anyone should attempt to write is one that investigates how the label is able used and abused to encompass so many important, mundane, silly, and nonexistent things while not meaning anything in specific.

Shocking: Evernote exports appear to stall on special characters, meaning the meat of what I used the app for (automatic captures of links I tweeted) is trapped in their platform, or at least their database file format.

“A rising tide lifts all boats” has always bugged me. It’s not like it improves everyone’s boats; you’re no better or worse off. Nothing happened. I prefer “A rising tide floods all coasts.”

Having read the White House release on the AI executive order, it’s striking that the WH identifies so many kinds of potential harms but will only REQUIRE action around “foundation model” testing. My Q: Does the president lack power to REQUIRE other remedies, or does it not wish to? Why?

On top of the attribution issues with the hospital blast, it looks like the “500 dead” claim never existed? And a lot of the attribution analysis was based on whether observed damage was consistent with that claim. What a mess.
