Enjoyed thoroughly, also that Christal Whelan joined (online) - she was moved by the stories! Wonderful to meet the ANU Faculty and to have the opportunity to share about some of the findings on the Goto so far. Short run to the lake - and the hotel frontage. thanks @andrewlevidis.bsky.social !

They have done not nearly enough but at least they (finally) altered stage 3 of the tax cuts… but yeah not much of a positive.

I'm truly looking forward to talking at the ANU Japan Institute Seminar next week, thanks to Andrew Levidis. An opportunity to raise the 'Kakure' who are elided from World Heritage discourse, and also to revisit the work of Christal Whelan. Feel free to join online, or in person if in Canberra! 🗃️

I’m starting to get into a new project in a couple of Anaiwan/dhunghetti locations on the Tablelands. Surveying some male dominated oral history plus dominant settler pastoral narratives. But there are traces of other histories… including the story of Mary-Ann Bugg, Indig partner of ‘Thunderbolt’ 🗃️

Stained glass window at Uralla Info Centre with red and yellow Indigenous painting of what looks like a turtle and a woman’s hands holding a Certificate of Exemption for Bill Murray that allows him to move around without their restrictions that most Indigenous people had put on them as a result of the New South Wales ‘Aboriginal Protection Act’
A large statue representing Captain Thunderbolt (bushranger in the 1860s) on a horse on a corner in Uralla, erected at the 100th anniversary his death.
