Small meeting alert! Every year we (the Center for Mechanisms of Evolution at ASU) host a meeting. This year we are focusing on the evolution of cellular machines (flagella, ribosomes, ATP synthase, cilia, etc.). Wallace Marshall will give the keynote, and lots of other great people are coming.

A naturally isolated symbiotic bacterium suppresses flavivirus transmission by Aedes mosquitoes www.science.org/doi/abs/10.1...#jcampubs
The commensal microbiota of the mosquito gut plays a complex role in determining the vector competence for arboviruses. In this study, we identified a bacterium from the gut of field Aedes albopictus ...
Happy to have been awarded Advanced ERC grant today to continue out work with Silent Flagellin
Insect-microbe symbioses never disappoint: Here we report an unexpected discovery that the stinkbug’s “tympanal organ” is actually a novel symbiotic organ.... In reproductive females, the hindleg organ is covered with fungal hyphae growing out of the pores" #SymbioSky
