In 1831, composer Hector Berlioz decided to kill his ex, Camille. She had left him for the wealthy heir to a piano manufacturing company. He was also named Camille. Berlioz loaded up two double-barrelled pistols and bought a maid's outfit in order to disguise himself. He intended to kill both Camilles and, to quote Berlioz, her 'Hippopotamus' mouther. But over the course of his long journey to Paris from FLorence, he lost the maid outfit. And then just sort of gave up after falling off a city rampart in Genoa.
