After Hawkman Vol. 2 ended at the end of 1987, Hawkman and Hawkwoman showed up a couple of times in Justice League International (Feb '88) and the Invasion series (Jan '89) but they didn't have a major part. These appearances have been shoehorned a bit into the story of Fel Andar and Sharon Parker.

Tony Isabella has said that Hawkman Vol 2 was planned as a five-year series. But then the whole COIE event made things complicated and he was told to wrap it up in a year. So he left. It would have been interesting to see how that storyline would have come together with invasion. But DC gonna DC.

Tony is a member of our group on Facebook and he has talked about it. He had a five-year plan for the Hawkman story, but Dennis O'Neill stepped in and told him to wrap it up in a year. Tony refused and stepped away. He has had strong words for O'Neill from time to time. Long story short.
