The craziest thing about AI art discourse is that it has turned once-progressive thinkers into conservatives who believe "good art must take a long time to make" and "copyright law is a sacred doctrine that is essential to providing the legal boundaries of what art can be."
I've had multiple people tell me to kill myself for posting pictures of ai cats and shit online. Even if you hate ai, Jesus Christ dial it back.
The way it flipped so many people into being copyright warriors & decrying “stealing” art makes me feel actually insane
yea the moral appeals aren't going to hold at the end of the day, need a more comprehensive attitude, like simply "i dont like ugly ass AI images" 😂
i've always believed that literally anything can be art - and the art i like the most usually resonates because of the idea more than how impressive the technical skill of the artist is (see literally all of vaporwave). a few years ago everyone was SAMPLING IS GOD but man the tune has really changed
an ai thread someplace is where i saw my first "if you didn't go to art school you aren't an artist" in the wild
I hate copyright law, I think people should draw Mario killing off Spider-Man or whatever I don’t care it’s all not real. But I still think AI art lacks a soul. i don’t think I could ever be convinced Ai generated art is “art” or that “prompting” is a human expression like painting or singing.
The Puritan roots of this country dig into both ends of the political spectrum... art is suffering and suffering is noble and anything that is easy is immoral 😮💨
