I don't think one loud voice provides enough of economic incentive to qualify as "audience capture". @jamellebouie.net means it derisively as telling your audience what they want to hear to keep their subscription. I'm not sure that's a bad thing, especially in politics.

We crossed threads, but to expand upon what I said: as someone who remembers him at the Atlantic it was clear he was *susceptible* to feedback while T-NC was *receptive* to feedback. Fan service is bad, actually.
