He acts reasonable now because he already got what he wanted: Brexit. He only presents himself as a grand statesman these days because he's trying to put some distance between himself and the shambles of Brexit that he conned, lied and cheated to get. And as usual, he's getting away with it.

I find it hard to forgive “Brexit Hard Man” Baker, who in the face of vigorous opposition from his own constituents helped drive a wedge between Britain and the EU. Being honest about his own behaviour after the fact is, well, after the fact.
Not from me. Too many lies. Too much damage. He’s no good guy.
What credit exactly? All this shows is that he knew he was lying during the Brexit campaign, yet still used the slogan cause he knew lying would yield results. An admission to being a lying prick gives him no credit.
Somewhere there is a better world where all of our politics is done by *former* politicians....
