I think the best ARRS roles bring new skills and take non patient-facing work from GPs. Pharmacists to reconcile meds after discharge from hospital, GP assistants to do the techy bit of referral once I've written the letter. Physios good too. 1/2

2/2 The hardest bit of GP is seeing undifferentiated patients. I don't think we should be handing this on to anyone else - to be safe it needs a level of supervision which isn't time or cost effective.You risk poor care, fragmentation, inefficiency & loss of continuity. Yes I'm a 🦕 but not extinct.

Sounds really positive as I’ve been trying to encourage the PCN to allow their pharmacists to reconcile discharge meds What’s the “techy bit” of referrals as I’m keen to know more about what GP assistants can do?
