It's weird to straddle the line between Gen X and Millenials when generational discourse comes up cause we get bits from both sides. That said, Gen X 100% turned into extremist versions of their Boomer parents and they refuse to admit it. Often.
Whoever it was that introduced the concept of the "Xillennial" microgeneration absolutely nailed it. I'm just one year shy of the cut-off and I identify more with younger Gen Xers than I do with other Millennials who are only a few years younger than me.
My ex-husband is in the same generation as my MOTHER. Technically speaking, he is a baby boomer. She was born in 1944, he in 1962. That's just weird.
This is why I'm actually a millennial.
This is the worst take I’ve seen since joining this site.
I'm still trying to seize the means of production but most everyone I grew up with has made such a sharp right turn over the last 15 years and I can't think of what happened in 2008 that- Ohhhhhhhhhh.
Right? The Moms for Liberty, fucking Gen X.
I don't get bogged down in the generation discourse because I feel each one goes through the same cycle. Boomers were protesting the Vietnam War but a majority are conservative. Sadly, I feel that conservative bug comes for every cohort. My friends and I are late GenX and none of us are right-wing.
Gen X here. We, or at least the people and media I was around, thought we'd be the change, too, so it's wild to watch some of them become major conservative players. I have far more faith in Millennials and Gen Z, but it's surprising what people become. Stay vigilant.
yuuuuup. my brother went from pothead/acid tripper to quiverfull fundie as soon as he got married (which was at like 19 lol) and I'm fairly confident he's probably a Q-er though idk for sure.
As I said on Hell Site: Really weird how a lot of Gen Xs disenfranchised WHATEVERism has turned into latching onto the Q*non tinfoil hat brigade because they perceive it as the rebellious underdog.
