Agree... Therefore I went to industry, got away from the toxic University culture (I.e. industry actually likes people to work in/with teams) 15 years ago and it's been great. I can mentor young engineers, instead of 100 at a time. Much better work/ life balance.
I swear, I have a draft of an email of something like this sitting in Outlook right now...
The annual review also requires me to write up my accomplishments in detail and submit them two weeks before the review. This involves searching four different places to find the correct information on how to submit the document.

we just switched from Blackboard to Canvas because faculty decided that Blackboard was no longer best in class, had us do a 3 year process to evaluate, purchase, install, configure and train faculty. at the end of the process, faculty complain about Canvas too. you can't win.
heh..have an adult grandchild who got undergrad degree. Three of their four grandparents were academics (not me). The grandchild went to one semester of grad school, dropped out..doesn't want to be "an academic". a martial artist..may become a bodyguard
University administrations have bloated and yet the workload for professors has increased. Hmm.
Not bad. And then you can add the need to bring in 3rd party funding, do executive education/teaching...
