I’m not gonna hate on this person. I live in Texas, which was part of Mexico. In fact, I lived a long time in San Antonio, the most Mexican of major American cities. And sometimes I just missed the taqueria tacos from LA. Tex Mex just ain’t my thing (I think corn tortillas are good).
I fully agree that some places are better than others. My comment was about seeing a little more rigor and responsibility in defining a city as a climate haven.
This doesn’t get discussed enough. How are climate havens being evaluated and defined, and by whom? I’ve seen some that very clearly ignore drought risk and, of course, hurricane risk outside of the gulf. What other bad assumptions are lurking in these models?
Insurance companies have been investing heavily in modeling, analyzing the trends in their losses, and sounding the alarm for at least two decades. Now they are forced to retreat entirely from markets, which means fewer premiums and negative growth. They’re not playing some sinister game.
