Once I read Dying of Whiteness, by Jonathan Metzl, this behavior made a lot more sense to me. In this fellow’s world, it’s better that nobody get anything ever (not even himself) as along his tribe maintains its status.

ProPublica has published one of the first accounts of a woman dying from being denied access to abortion care. Amber Nicole Thurman died in an Atlanta hospital because doctors were afraid of providing her a timely and life-saving abortion. Abortion bans kill women.
