We have normalized going homeless and blaming people instead of society. How do we change that attitude? I used to be guilty too, but then I realized I, myself, am a paycheck away from homelessness. And with inflation I earn less today than 20 years ago.

The old lies still hold immense sway over the majority—homeless are addicts, are lazy, they choose it, are racially predisposed, are opportunistic, parasitic. Anything to avoid confronting our own complicity in normalized genocide. We need a mass movement around the unequivocal right to shelter.

We've normalized that years ago we are at the it's normal to make homelessness illegal and jail them stage. America is brutal

I think part of it is the drug war and how drug users are viewed. People associate homelessness with drug use, and therefore seem to think it's deserved. (Furthermore, if you are a drug user who doesn't want to go with abstinence, your options assistance wise are limited)

Yeah and when you talk to people on Section 8 (housing aid), they’ll say “Get these homeless out!”There’s a community crushing individualist mindset at play

Most people I know are precariously living too. Why are we blaming ourselves and not the system?
