Question as former TriMet (Portland) bus driver: how does the QR code work? You scan a QR code on the fare box and it send you to a pay page? Is that ridiculously slow? Or you have previously purchased credits in your Transit app and then you scan QR to deduct?

During my time as a TriMet bus driver, I had a front-row seat to dangerous road design and irresponsible driving behaviors. I witnessed pedestrians get hit, close calls with cyclists, and numerous car-on-car crashes. There's no denying that our roads just are not safe.
This is the second time I've been hit by a car while riding my bike this year, on the same stretch of road. There's clearly a problem with the design of SE 7th, but the problem isn't just for bicyclists. 32% of this year's deaths are motorists, 35% are pedestrians.
