No-one is talking about it, but 70% of Brits are about to be banned from falling in love with a foreigner.
Nobody talked about it much in 2012 either when they brought in a min income for spousal visas, which had to be earned by the British sponsor (not family income).
I was a recent MA graduate in 2015 when I married my American spouse, and this was why I moved away. I haven't lived in the UK since and now there's no way I can move back. Nice to see the Tories cruelty knows no bounds and they're actively making spouse visas worse.
Personal here too - 21s BF from S America, both he’s studying engineering, genuinely hard worker from humble background who’s grafted to pay his way - all the values Tories supposedly want. Always thought, if still together after Uni, they’d marry and he could stay but she’ll never be on that much.
As a Brit married to a Swiss, the number of countries I can live and work in has shrunk from around 30 eight years ago, to three five years ago, and soon will be two. And neither is the only country I am a citizen of. And the Tories just gave loads of people in the same situation the vote back. Lol.
Particularly galling for those of us who moved to mainland Europe when free movement still existed, with no idea that we’d ever need to worry about this when we met our partners. Now we’re stuck.

They espouse "a small state that doesn't interfere in people's lives" except of course when they see political advantage......
Christ! and those cheering this on are most in need of a bit of genetic diversity.
This is horrific legislation. Today's leading Conservatives are evil. No other word for it.
