It's a great piece, but I do disagree with your reading of their intentions. It isn't at all that they haven't "learned lessons", but rather the complete opposite. They have learned that deregulation makes their business pals richer, and carries little political fallout when people die.
And of course, the word "deregulation" is not mentioned in the Tory press in relation to the fire.
Yeah! Who'd have guessed that privatising Building Control would leave it open to "commercial interests"!
And Labour making same old excuses.
