That link is all fucked up for some reason, better one here open.substack.com/pub/iandunt/...
Everything you need to know about the next five years of our economic life
I think the last paragraph is very important "What’s lacking now is a clear communication strategy to actually explain it to people. That’s the real gaping hole in Labour’s economic policy." Labour are terrible at communicating WHY they are doing things
This seems more like wishful thinking and 5D chess than anything else. Trying to find a way to believe they don't really want or plan to do all the terrible things they say they will.
Really interesting, as usual. Only thing I could have done with a bit more on was *why* moving from PSND-ex BoE to PSND results in more headroom, as working from a presumably higher debt figure seems unlikely to result in more cash in normal circumstances. To this layman at any rate.
Yep that works! 👍
Much of the problem is that the costs of Labour's strategy, WFA cut and failure to abolish 2 child cap, are definite, immediately felt and obvious, whilst any benefits from investment are speculative, long-dated and arguable. Reeves has *not* said that individual depts won't suffer real terms cuts.
Thank you. All is a little less merky.
