I feel like ppl dont understood that an artist labeling something a doodle/sketch is very often equivalent to a musician sharing a demo Its a messy exploration, just being creative or having fun, but its not representative of what we *can* do (or at least that wasnt the intention during the piece)

I feel it's more to describe the level of effort put in it rather than the actual quality (which is how most people seem to interpret it), like how people post WIPs but they can be at different levels of completion or quality

Artists are never labeling their work as "sketch" to be falsely modest! and what each artist considers sketch/ doodle level varies per person.

Still better than spending 2 weeks on a finished fully rendered piece, then going "just a 5 minute doodle." Why lie?

Interesting, I didn't know that was the idea. I always associated doodle with playing around, and sketch as practicing. but it throws me off because artists are so good, their "trash" was lightyears ahead of my high effort lol

like a fun idea that you wanted to get out there and show others, right?
