I see we're learning about war reenactors today. I know you're probably wondering, do people do this for normal reasons? The answer is no
War cover bands are also some weird folks but a delight at parties
I had a high school teacher who did civil war reenactment and brought both uniforms to each battle. You know, in case one side was inaccurately short. He also researched stuff like how long it would take to die from a groin wound. He’d let me heckle him during class, so I consider him cool.
I live 30 miles from Gettysburg. The answer is a resounding no.
The people doing English civil war stuff over here often seem pretty chill. I'm much more wary of those doing more recent wars.
My Community College History guy seemed like he might be one? He had long lectures with weapons explaining just how long it took to kill someone in 1863; he was trying to hammer how awful the battles were. His first lecture was all about how the confederacy inspired the Nazis and fuck Shelby Foote.
Ok, I agree. But the Battle of New Orleans should be different. I would never be a British or American soldier but I’d totally play a pirate who comes out of left field and surprises the British.
Can’t wait to see future generations become 2024 civil war re-enactors by wearing “occupy mars” shirts and not washing their assholes
A note on this: when I was in boy scouts, I watched a guy in full Revolutionary War uniform get a chunk of his hand blown off because someone left the worm in the cannon they were firing as part of a demonstration
