I've played some more of the game. Once I stopped judging it by modern standards, and took it as Duke Nukem 3D with prettier graphics, I'm enjoying it a lot more. Some of the dialogue is painful by modern standards, but it's actually quite fun.
The combination of finishing the high-stress/long hours project & coming out of the other side of having a cold, means I'm feeling surprisingly good today. Still a bit tired, but definitely more human. Finally got around to playing Duke Nukem Forever properly (ironic, considering I bought the deluxe set after having waited 12 years for the damn release, and having played once and not actually got past the intro battle). I say this amongst episodes of "dear god, that was annoying!" and "oh, ffs, you just did that same thing 3 times in a row", along with "almost... almost... bollocks!". Not actually complaining, it's nice to put it down, then come back and have another run at it. All these new AAA games keep coming out... yet I've rediscovered the joy of the simple platform game. Been replaying Stealth Bastard and the newly acquired sequel Stealth Inc 2, and it is giving me much joy. The latter cost me £1.39 with its soundtrack DLC, and I've clocked 11.5 hours so far.
