Making comics is for when you want to be the director and the writer and the set designer and every actor and god

A work friend recently informed me that she had some customers tell her that they "usually get recommendations from the small guy who works here" and then immediately followed it with "well, the small person whose gender we don't want to assume."

I hate when I'm watching a show and they subtitle english but when someone is speaking anything other than English it's just like [speaking Italian]

Always remember that tolerance is not a moral virtue - it's a social contract. Bigots are in breach of that contract, and therefore not covered by it. None of us are obligated to accept bigotry as "a difference of opinion." We're morally obligated NOT to.

Hey #portfolioday ! I'm Izzi, a fantasy illustrator and comics artist with a particular love of making DnD character art, fantasy illustration and cosy slice of life comics 📚✨

An illustration of a black woman dressed in purple taking a cutting from a hanging plant. The room is very crowded, with plants, hanging herbs, art supplies, scrolls, and random odds and ends. The style implies this is a fantasy/medieval adjacent setting. Sunlight streams in from an open window behind the woman.
An illustration of a tiny bird person - Soft Rain - against a green rainbow-slicked background. Soft Rain is dressed in yellow and greens, with a huge scarf and a large backpack. Their posture and slight expression suggests excitement and mischievousness. Around their visible eye there is a patch of rainbow-oil-slick feathers.
An illustration of the Venus di Milo's torso with top surgery scars, set against a background of sunflowers. A banner above and below reads "there has never been a world without trans people"
A four panel comic depicting two DnD characters reacting to an ugly decoy doll they appear to have made out of pillows and sticks. They declare it perfect, and excellent work.

I've been seeing a few people complain about accounts who very frequently repost, and I'm sure Portfolio Day is especially aggravating. But sharing IS the right thing to do especially as we're all rebuilding on a new site with no algorithm. So for those people, I dunno... Read a book or something.

I'm having a great time reading I Shall Never Fall in Love (created by the marvellous @haridraws.bsky.social)

A photograph of two panels from the comic book "I Shall Never Fall in Love." The first panel shows two people dancing; the man is saying "I am sure she is the very best and most sensible person in the world." The second panel shows an androgynous youth in a jacket with exaggeratedly large weepy eyes and a wobble in their lip; the text around them reads "w o b b l e SNIFF"

probably my favourite two-panel sequence so far from the comic I'm working on! It's tentatively titled "Rowan Avari's Guide to Pre-Made Spells" and is an urban fantasy/slice of life comic about a normal guy working at a magic library.

two illustrated unfinished panels from a comic, one above the other. Both show a figure floating above the ground against a background of bookshelves. In the top panel, the figure has just lifted off the ground. Their speech bubble reads "oh cool." In the second panel, they are starting to float higher and drifting out of their own control; their speech bubble reads "oh, fuck."
