It has begun... After completing my certificate and diploma, I am starting the final phase of the #Strathclyde#genealogy

Yesterday I paid a visit to Plymouth, where English pilgrims arrived in 1620, after having stayed in Leiden for 12 years. At the Mayflower Society I visited the research centre, checked books and saw application files. Afterwards I was in a replica of the Mayflower. #genealogy
Today, I attended the 36th International Congress for Genealogical and Heraldic Sciences in Boston. Tahitia McCabe in her presentation spoke about migration and how 18% of the Dutch/Flemish immigrant in the early 1900s decided to return to the old country. #genealogy
I finally found the time to write a report of the very successful heritage trip I made three weeks ago with members of NYG&B (@nyfamilyhistory). I really enjoy using #genealogyhttps://www.antecedentia.com/2024/09/nygb-trip/
It was a great pleasure to officially open the #APGPMC 2024. Three days packed with classes about how to run a genealogy business. A great event, which makes me proud to be @APGgenealogy President!
Today I read minutes of a meeting of deacons. They spoke about the use of the "elixir salutis" of Dr. Daffy. I had never heard of it, but apparently in the 18th and 19th century it was a kind of miracle potion, good for the treatment of all kinds of ailments.
Next week I'll be in Boston. To attend the 36th International Congress of Genealogical and Heraldic Sciences, and to learn more about the Pilgrims. There will be enough time to meet fellow #genealogy professionals, who are @APGgenealogy members. Will I see you in Boston?
On the second day of a heritage trip I organized for an American couple, we visited the Leiden region. We saw many churches, in Oegstgeest, Leiden, Valkenburg and Koudekerk a/d Rijn. In Valkenburg we stood at the location where the family lived in the 17th century. #genealogy
Today I took an American couple to Oldenzaal, a very old city in the east of the Netherlands. The lady's ancestors moved from there to New Netherland in the 1650s. We had guided tours of the city, the Palthe House and of the St. Plechelmus basilica. #genealogy#heritagetrip
