The instructor, Anthony McNeal, is suing in federal court, claiming his First and Fourteenth Amendment rights were violated.

They're trying to unwind civil rights full stop.

The current wave of conservatives no longer believe in straightforwardly true things if they don't line up with their pre-conceived prejudice. The hatred and denial they have within themselves is more true to them than any established knowledge could possibly be.

I was also pretty disheartened by this:

The state is a surprise, but the prison context is not.

In writing Tucker up, the prison staffer literally said that teaching that literacy tests were racist was Tucker "leading the class down a racist direction."

One would not think that point would be controversial.
