also the thing about these tax cut proposals is that one is a massive giveaway to the super rich (not taxes on tips) and the other is a massive cut to social security and medicare (no taxes on social security benefits)

As not educated on this topic - how does not taxing social security and Medicare cut the benefit? Honestly, it sounds good on the surface? (Which coming from team T is .....worrisome)

Isn't he talking about cutting taxes on social security income, not cutting the payroll tax that funds social security? If you have enough income while receiving social security, then your part of your social security income is taxable. I think that's what he's talking about.

It's almost like the NYT is a shitrag that only caters to the views of the ultra-rich.

There's also the fact that the president can't just change tax laws by decree, and the other fact that he has no intention of honoring this promise if elected.

Need to regularly explain the tax cut scam as: you get $50 more in your paycheck, your landlord gets $500,000 more. When he raises your rent by $100/mo., you try to move to the apartments down the street, but he bought that building too and jacked up the rent. Good luck saving to buy a house.

Harris should put out a press release: "I'm gratified the GOP has changed positions on taxing social security benefits, a policy which was implement in the Reagan Administration. Since tax policy needs to originate in the House, I welcome the current Speaker's proposal to replace that revenue"

These are all utterly bogus tax cuts as far as Middle America is concerned. Just another Ben Dover/Ann Grabbit load of horse hockey from the orange pustule.

I don’t think the latter is a direct cut to social security. it takes money out of the general income tax pool and then how that gets allocated is to be seen, presumably?

i’m a little confused - how is “no taxes on tips” a giveaway to the super rich? does it have something to do with “household labor”.

You have to admit though, this is very good news for John McCain
