people should really consider what happened to wesley lowery, a generational reporting talent who was basically forced out of the washington post for being critical of traditional journalistic "objectivity" and is now the target of bad faith criticism from other journalists
I just bought his 2023 book based on this post and the enthusiastic comments. Thanks. It seems excellent so far.
Is there an account I can read of what happened to Lowery? I'm not familiar with that happened. I recall having a generally positive view of him, and then I guess he was just gone.
It’s hard to overstate how much bosses experienced 2020 as a crisis of insubordination
Yeah, Lowery deserved so very, very much better than he got
He was so good on Ferguson. It's wrong he was forced out but they still give Marc Thiessen money
I kind of wondered where he'd gone. I just bought his book.
Feels like a lifetime ago. Also feels like we've turned a bad corner since then.
I hadn’t heard of other journalists turning against him!
I followed Wes on the other app right now. Thanks for reminding me of what they did to him
love him from back in his boston globe days. he did some really excellent local coverage of marathon stuff and aaron hernandez. hope he makes his way to bluesky someday. but yeah he got a raw deal.
