When people think about leading countries in renewable energy they rarely think about Lithuania. The country has now reached a whopping 60% of wind + solar as a share of total electricity generation making it number 3 in the world. In 2012 gas still supplied 64% of Lithuania's electricity.
Didn't Lithuania have a mostly nuclear grid until 🇩🇪 pressured them into shutting down their RBMKs? Or was that Latvia?
That’s odd. I have it on good authority of various ill informed or ill motivated dickheads that it’s not possible, as, you see, sometimes the wind doesn’t blow and the sun doesn’t shine.
keep not thinking about Lithuania, guys! pay No attention to what they are up to!
The Netherlands sit at 53% renewabel in the first six months of thuis year. We're getting there.
Does that include the imported electricity? They get a lot of their power from Poland
Just curious, is there any data on how this has affected consumer prices for power? Rather stay on oil/nuclear if green is going to jack up prices..
It helps that a major gas supplier made himself somewhat untenable in 2022
Nice work!
Nothing like being wholly dependent for electricity on your recent colonial overlord to motivate a renewables revolution!
