The weird thing is, the only true "traditional" diners I can think of off the top of my head are sort of throwback places trying to capitalize on the retro appeal. Or Waffle House, which just doesn't give a damn anymore.

I live in New Jersey and they exist and are often quite nice, if not really cheap any more.
