I think he had to, since the Madonna is so huge xD at least 2 times the height of an average person.
Absolutely, medieval symbol language is so deep and interesting (isn't for no reason a big part of art history in university). What I find so completely fascinating is the framing, where it seems, in the madonna one more so than the annunciation, that you are peeking in/ are there.
I had the luck to have lived with someone who painted near photo realism, though on mid to large canvas sizes. So from personal experience I can say that you can invest hundreds of hours into a single painting. It's such an impressive skill.
Just did a cursory search, the Madonna is 31x14cm which for that level of detail I find insane! Annunciation is 90,2x34,1cm so a bit bigger :P
More is now published on this, crustaceans (other than insects) have evolved silk at least 6 times! Common terrestrial isopods can do it, which I did not know! Glands all different, we don't know yet about genes. @joannarifkin.bsky.socialacademic.oup.com/jcb/article/...
if I remember right these were also pretty small? At least the Madonna.
The Day Approaches! I'm honestly a wee scared tbh. I've been in mood for months and haven't touched art materials in a while. Hoping this Sparta-Kicks me outta my head and into a consistent art practice again. Gonna be hard with Silent Hill 2 out this month :D #zombieskulltober is soon upon us!
I’ll never bother to learn how copyright laws apply to comics because it’s pointless when it’s always funnier to just do something like this instead.
