It's wild to me that people think academics with 100 page bibliographies are just making things up, but politicians who will only agree to debates that are not fact-checked must be just "telling it how it is."

In CO, registering Independent means you get to vote in either party's primaries (but not both). All the ones I know are Democrats who want an actual quality Republican on the ballot, even though they won't probably vote them into office. But maybe that's just here.
